ABOUT
I am an excellent music teacher with 8 years teaching experience; recorder, piano, vocal, choirs, accompaniment guitar, ukulele, theory, general musicianship. I tailor my lessons to the individual, students ranging from toddlers to adults. I also have a wealth of experience working with children and adults with additional and varied complex needs, so I can tailor and adapt lessons as appropriate. I am happy to all grades ABRSM/RIAM/LCM/VCM. I am a qualified Music Therapist so I enjoy incorporating music improvisation as part of my lessons too.
I majored in Composition as part of my International Bachelor of Music Degree, and I enjoying arranging music of my students choice; tailoring it to their abilities. I have a Diploma in classical singing. I have grade 8 piano and I am self-taught on the recorder, guitar, ukulele.
I teach piano Beginners to intermediate (grade 5), Recorder Beginner to intermediate (grade 5), Singing Beginner to intermediate (grade 5), Ukulele Advanced Beginner to intermediate (self taught so not sure of grade), Accompaniment Guitar- I am a singer, so I use it as an accompaniment instrument mainly, I typically teach accompaniment of songs, no classical training.
I love teaching music, and I know myself how rewarding it can be to attend music lessons.I believe it is so important to find the right fit for student, so I always have a trial period before we agree on fixed term with student. This ensures both are happy and comfortable with fit.

TEACHING APPROACH
Every lesson is different because I do not believe there is one shoe fits all when it comes to teaching. I have an student led approach tailoring the lesson to their strengths and Abilities. Typically the lesson will begin with some sort of warm up exercise, pieces we are working on and then sometimes finish with some improvisation-however the improvisation is something I am still trying to hone with students online as you can no longer play at the same time, unless my screen is muted. With really young students I incorporate musical games as a reprieve from intervals where high levels of focus are needed.
