ABOUT
My name is Rhona and I have been teaching the Piano, Violin and Tin Whistle for many years both in person and in Primary Schools and online. It is a rewarding and enjoyable career. I teach children from 4 years upward and adults too. The classes are tailored to the individual student’s needs. Some want to work on technique and exam preparation while others want to increase their repertoire. I am excited to work with you.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I started learning the piano at age 6 and did all my grades in the piano and violin at the Royal Academy of Music. I have an BA in Arts from University College Dublin and then went on to do the group teaching diploma at the Royal Academy of Music and teach in schools and large groups. During the holidays I run Piano and Theory camps. I have also done pre instrumental classes for 3-5 for a few years in Waltons School of music.
TEACHING APPROACH
I like to have a mixture of technical exercises in the lesson and either exam pieces or nice pieces that the students learn to build up their repertoire. I like to encourage the students to play in a group setting and we do a Christmas concert every year in the local hall. This year I have done a porch drop off and the students have done a mid summer concert, with a few treats afterwards. We will do our Christmas concert online this year. I hope you can join us!
